Bring The Whole Tribe

Bring The Whole Tribe

RAISING the next generation of conservationists

Here at Diwa Zambezi, we feel very strongly about the wonders and benefits a trip to Africa's wilds, has on a young person's perspective. For at the heart of conservation are people, not only those actively involved in conservation initiatives, but equally as important, those who spend money visiting Southern Africa's habitats and wildlife. And what better way to foster an affinity for animals and the wild in your children, than to take them on safari!

Many members of our team were fortunate enough to spend decent portions of their childhoods in the Zimbabwean bush and this was the beginning of a passionate union which persists to this day. During our time in the bush we genuinely felt as though we were exploring formerly undiscovered territory and despite that, we had such innate faith and confidence during our expeditions. For whatever reasons and as our lives develop into a path of sequential responsibilities, that assuredness and freedom becomes compromised. Every time we return to the bush however, those emotions come rolling back and every day is brimming with excitement, promise and opportunity. As it was when we were children. It might be having an elephant watch you catch a tigerfish or it might be that you feel that many of these wild places have not changed in thousands of years. Whatever it is, the seed that was planted in our childhoods, germinated into all that is Diwa Zambezi today. Give your kids the same opportunity and who knows what might happen :)

sample itinerary - 9 days

Day 1-3 - Your safari starts with the mighty Victoria Falls where you'll be based at the multi-award winning Tongabezi or the gorgeous Toka Leya Camp. Not surprisingly, one of Tongabezi's awards was for 'Best Family Safari Lodge.' As with our other partners, bush walks, game drives and river cruises are all come as standard as part of your safari package with us. There is so much more to experience here however, depending on the age of the children. From white water rafting, bungee jumping and elephant back safaris, to helicopter flights, village visits and guided tours of the Victoria Falls themselves, the family will have a whale of a time.

Day 4-6 - After the Victoria Falls, you'll venture further into Zambia, either to Zambia's largest national park, Kafue, or the Lower Zambezi National Park. Both true gems of the Southern African wilderness, these parks are noted for their exceptional scenery, luxurious lodges, abundant birdlife and of course, a plethora of wildlife species sustained by the waters of the Zambezi and Kafue Rivers. Once again, activities such as fishing, boat cruises, canoeing, game drives and bush walks are all included in the price. And while here, you can expect genuinely unique wildlife spectacles, experienced in the company of just your family.

Day 7-9 - After your time in the Lower Zambezi, the family will board a private charter flight to Mfuwe, gateway to the world-renowned South Luangwa National Park. This is the home of the walking safari and where you and your children will learn of the way of Norman Carr, one of the pioneers of this wilderness area. Norman was enthusiastic about developing the potential in people and he was passionate about sharing and preserving this enchanting area through the offering of authentic safari experiences. You'll get all of that and more here as you explore the Valley of the Leopard, one of Luangwa's aliases, in the company of Norman Carr's legendary guides. Finally, if you were looking for a relaxing finish for the family, then look no further - enter Chinzombo.
